Agricultural Economics Standing Committee (AESC) provides a formal platform for communication, coordination, cooperation and information sharing for the National Department (DoA), Provincial Departments (PDAs), the Landbank, the National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC) and the Agricultural Research Council (ARC).

The committee attends to non-trade economics matters that lack regular constructive engagement. It was proposed through ITCA (Interdepartmental Technical Committee on Agriculture) on 31 January 2002, which is a structure that made provision for Economic, Marketing and Cooperatives Working Group. ITCA also served as a liaison platform between national and provincial departments on agricultural economic matters.
