Forestry Research Institutions provide expertise in the development of natural resources in South Africa. They provide research, consultancy and education services in the development of sustainable management of natural and human resources.

IUFRO is a non-profit, non-governmental international network of forest scientists. Its objective is to promote international cooperation in forestry and forest products research.

Established under the National Environmental Management Act, No. 10 of 2004, SANBI is a leader in horticulture, education and research with respect to indigenous plant life in Southern Africa.
